The Harris '62 50th Reunion was held the weekend of June 1 - 3, 2012. Harris reunion events were held in conjunction with CCNY graduation events and anniversary celebrations. The various events were attended by 12 Harris members along with wives and companions. Below is a short summary of the reunion from Michael Shapiro.
The Harris '62 50th Reunion
For those of you who were in NY for the reunion, hello again. It was great to reconnect. For those of you who weren't, we were sorry you couldn't be part of the festivities. We missed you. And for those of you who weren't physically there but met with us through Skype, it's wonderful that we could actually see you and chat through the amazing world of technology.

The reunion weekend was a great success. The restaurant room at Fiorini was intimate, the food delicious and the staff very helpful and friendly. And they let us linger for hours Saturday night.

The brunch on Sunday was in Sidonie's (Neil's sister-in-law's) Central Park West apartment again, as it had been 10 years ago. For those of you who remember it from last time, it's such a great setting. Instead of autumn colors surrounding us from the park, as they did at the 40th, this time we looked out over a sea of green.

There are lots of highlights to mention, and since everyone experienced the weekend somewhat differently, we hope those of you who attended will share moments that stand out in your minds.

Meeting up with Dave and Anita Schick, Bob and Arlene Memis, and Ed Kirsch and his wife Marsha after so many years was a real treat. Skyping with Art and Elaine Spira from their home on Decourcy Island, Canada and with Chuck and Miriam Ehrenreich from theirs in Israel added a special dimension to the Sunday gathering. And so did the opportunity to meet four of the Harris '62 scholarship recipients. They were such impressive young people and it was clear that we had made a difference in their lives.

Ten years ago -- during a conversation at the 40th reunion brunch -- Mike Grossman came up with the idea of the scholarship -- and it was a great one. Now, having met some of these young men and women (Michael Shapiro spoke to, or got emails from, all those we didn't meet), we feel more strongly than ever that the scholarship program is an especially meaningful way of giving back to CCNY and to our NY roots.

Like proud parents, we Harrisites are so proud of these wonderful CCNY students, and on the Sunday we met them, we felt like winners, too.

Since the 60th reunion is a long way off, we're aiming for a 55th instead. There's something very special about spending time with old friends, reminiscing, and catching up.

It was a fun weekend! Thanks for making it special, and we look forward to seeing many of you in 5 years.
